So my DVR did it to me again. On Wednesday nights, we watch Jericho. We did not get a chance to view it on Wednesday, so last night we turn it on. The first fifteen minutes of Jericho appeared to be a paused black screen with a few pixels in the corner. Needless to say, I was not pleased. The Comcast guy came by Wednesday afternoon to fix my DVR and I told him that he would have to be a programmer. I tried to explain that to the CSR on the phone at Comcast, but she sent the guy out with the work order reading DVR broken. Not quite the same as DVR interface sucks. The guy admitted that he could do nothing to solve that problem, but did say that Comcast's next gen DVR was going to be put out by Tivo, so it would have that interface. However, that would not be out until next year (and I think that he meant the end of next year).
So I got to check out the CBS website for Jericho. They have an interface similar to NBC that allows you to control playback and breaks the show into segments. Chris' laptop had issues with the website stopping when we tried to utilize the control buttons, but he was multi-tasking. When I got on the desktop, the issues disappeared, even while I multi-tasked. (You know, maybe it was just operator error.
)
I still like Fox's interface the best, but CBS did have one advantage over the other two networks. It had all the episodes from this season's shows. That allows you to catch up at any time, which is a huge advantage for me, because I hate to watch something and not know what happened before.
I guess that I could check out ABC's website for throughness, but I don't watch anything on ABC. So I really see no need to waste my time now. My mother did say that she had problems with her DVR this week too, and that it could be solar flares. If Comcast had no other issues, maybe, but they still suck.
