Today at the SOA & Business Process Conference, Microsoft announced the “Oslo” vision and family of investments that will help organizations achieve significant gains in efficiency as current products get versioned and new products are introduced over the next few years. Also, as part of the conference, I’m also happy to announce the availability of the Managed Services Engine v6.2 CTP (MSE) on CodePlex. The MSE is the culmination of customer experiences addressing the challenges of real world SOA, collaboration within Microsoft, and a lot of effort from our team.

After researching for close to a year, I finally took the plunge and liquid cooled the heater that has been sitting in my home office.

DSCF2502

While certainly not for the faint of heart, the benefits are nothing short of amazing. After completely, and I mean completely, disassembling my computer, extensive modifications were required to fit the ginormous radiator and the double 5.25 bay reservoir. I would have made some rookie mistakes if it hadn’t been for the Chemical Engineer sitting behind me and her father who is also a Chemical Engineer.

You can see the load temps to the right. Air cooled, the CPU would be sitting closer to 90C and the GPU’s would be sitting at 75C. When gaming, the GPU’s go north of 80C real fast. Not only is my computer running cooler, but I have access to three more expansion slots, the computer is significantly quieter, and I don’t have to mess with the fan settings in nTune or RivaTuner! No fancy lights or UV reactive liquid but the results speak for themselves.

Bri

We got word today that Bri is moving up to be a Level 5 gymnast. She is apparently pretty excited and it should give her some additional confidence going into her meet this weekend.
